Makia Clothing and Abloy released a streetwear collaboration

Helsinki-based streetwear brand Makia Clothing and Abloy Oy today launched the MAKIA ABLOY – Key to the City streetwear collection, designed in collaboration. The range is inspired by the ABLOY lock invented by Emil Henriksson in 1907. The lock became known worldwide for its operating principle of rotating detainer discs, on which all traditional ABLOY locks are still based.  Thus, ABLOY locking systems can be found on all continents, from Macau’s casinos to the world’s most famous museums.

"Our 115-year history is important to us. We are deep in the DNA of locking. In cooperation with the youthful and urban Makia brand, we can naturally tell an updated story about the latest digital, mobile locking solutions that people increasingly use to open doors in city environments today", said Abloy's Head of Marketing Johanna Varis.

Makia's clothes reflect the Nordic straightforward design tradition, and they are made to withstand the harsh northern climate – just like ABLOY.

"It has been a pleasure to design a collaborative collection with Abloy. Particularly rewarding in the process was going through the old archive materials. The old logos and illustrations provided a good basis for the graphic design work, which led into a streetwear collection that naturally represents both companies," said Jesse Hyväri, Head of Design at Makia.

The MAKIA ABLOY – Key to the City collection is immediately available in Makia's own stores and online stores, as well as from selected Makia retailers.
