"After I started working at Abloy, I gained more than 50,000 colleagues around the globe"

Hanna Sillanpää created a relaxed and humorous atmosphere at the very beginning of the interview. She seems to put people quickly in a good mood in any situation. Her journey at Abloy began four years ago by a recommendation of an old colleague. Hanna had already worked in the software industry many years and became interested in Abloy's digital solutions. Today, she is responsible for Abloy's digital products and smart locks product unit.

Hanna wants to foster a spirit of cooperation at Abloy and feels she always gets help whenever needed. Abloy has a low hierarchy where people are instantaneous and willing to discuss.

"We are on the verge of really important issues, because we affect the everyday safety of society and people. If anything, that is very motivating. In addition, we are on the edge of new things, as the industry is in the hands of a digital revolution, and we develop completely new kinds of solutions, with which we can help people and make companies more efficient."

Abloy's work culture supports the development of new things, because according to Hanna, Abloy is equal and different opinions are taken into account. People are always seen as experts in their own field, and it does not matter what a person looks like or what background they come from. At the same time, the international atmosphere brings diversity and different perspectives to the development work at Abloy.

"Abloy is a very global and local company at the same time. We are well known in Finland. Unfortunately, Abloy is not known well for the work done on the international business. We are part of the ASSA ABLOY group, thanks to which we have more than 50,000 colleagues around the globe. Half of my daily meetings may be with foreign people. When working with different cultures, you will learn and hear how different processes in the world are, especially in terms of security. We are here in the fluffy North and the internationality opens eyes how things are done elsewhere", Hanna ponders.

In her spare time, Hanna does agility with her three dogs. She already has 15 years of background with the hobby. "Agility is a really good release from sometimes very hectic work schedule. As a second sport, we practice sheep herding and we may also compete on the weekends. Working with dogs is very similar to working life; you have to get along with everyone," Hanna states.
