Abloy UK and Knightsbridge Security Systems have supplied luxury car dealer H.R. Owen with the SMARTair wireless access control solution to secure its extensive 110,000sq ft showroom in Hatfield, providing efficient access control while protecting millions of pounds worth of cars.
H.R. Owen, a specialist in luxury and sports cars, represents brands such as Lamborghini, Bentley, Aston Martin, Rolls-Royce, and Lotus. Expanding beyond its London base, the new Hatfield facility required a security system that combined high protection with seamless integration into its premium aesthetic.
Over 100 SMARTair devices were installed, including Wall Readers and i-max Handles, chosen for their sleek design and adaptability. The wireless system allowed for a fast, cost-effective installation with minimal disruption and offers long-term adaptability.
Remote Access Management: Enables real-time security adjustments and credential revocation.
Mobile Credentials (SMARTair Openow): Staff can use smartphones instead of physical cards, enhancing convenience and security.
Parking Mode Feature: Allows high-value vehicle access via mobile credentials from a secure distance, preventing unauthorised entry.
With multiple high-end brands housed within the site, security infrastructure had to be both flexible and discreet. The facility also features various doors and barriers, presenting technical challenges that needed a tailored solution.
Having worked with H.R. Owen on previous sites, Knightsbridge Security Systems collaborated with Abloy UK to specify SMARTair, a scalable, wireless access control system that ensures secure yet flexible entry management.
Ifazaad Liaqat, Technical Sales Manager at Abloy UK, said:
“We worked closely with Knightsbridge to deliver a wireless access control solution that integrates into H.R. Owen’s high-end aesthetic while ensuring security and operational flexibility.”
Matthew Taylor, Operations Director at Knightsbridge, added:
“From the planning stages, it was clear that Abloy UK’s SMARTair solution was the perfect fit. Having partnered with them for years, they were the ideal choice to help design and implement this project.”
Sean Nevatte, Group Aftersales Director at H.R. Owen, commented:
“Security is paramount—not just for protecting our vehicles but also our staff and customers. The support from Knightsbridge and Abloy UK in maintaining the system has been outstanding.”
